Sì Sì Nán Cūn, a unique Taiwanese dining concept by Phase 2 (M) Sdn. Bhd., has officially been recognized by ASEAN Records for its exceptional cultural and culinary innovation. The record title awarded is:“ASEAN’s First Taiwanese Restaurant to Offer a Military Village-Style Set Meal Featuring Award-Winning Braised Pork Rice”
This historic accolade was presented at a vibrant pre-opening event titled “One Night in Taipei”, held at Sì Sì Nán Cūn Concept Store, Pavilion Bukit Jalil, in conjunction with the launch of their latest flagship outlet. The evening unfolded as a multisensory celebration of Taiwanese heritage, drawing guests from across the region for a night of nostalgia, flavor, and cultural pride.

Honoring the Culinary Legacy of Taiwan’s Military Villages
Sì Sì Nán Cūn (四四南村), meaning “44 South Village,” draws inspiration from Taiwan’s storied military dependents’ villages—communities established in the 1940s to house soldiers and their families. These villages gave rise to a unique subculture and cuisine, blending regional Chinese flavors into a singular Taiwanese identity.
The award-winning Braised Pork Rice (滷肉飯) served at Sì Sì Nán Cūn embodies this legacy. Rich, fragrant, and lovingly slow-cooked, the dish is the heart of the restaurant’s military village-style set meal, which also features handmade side dishes that recreate the taste and emotion of a traditional Taiwanese home kitchen.
With this award, Sì Sì Nán Cūn becomes the first restaurant in ASEAN to formally offer such a cultural experience under a structured, themed dining concept.

An Immersive Cultural Experience at the Grand Opening
Held on 13 April 2025, the pre-opening celebration was themed “One Night in Taipei” and transported guests into a stylized Taipei street night market. The event featured:
The evening also featured classic Taiwanese decor, live performances, and a tasting session of the set meal that led to the ASEAN Records milestone.
The ribbon-cutting was officiated by key stakeholders, members of the media, and cultural ambassadors, while the ASEAN Records certificate and plaque were presented by representatives of ASEAN Records, marking the official recognition.
A Word from the Founders
“We are deeply honored to be recognized by ASEAN Records for bringing a meaningful part of Taiwanese culture to Malaysia and beyond,” said the founders of Sì Sì Nán Cūn. “This isn’t just a restaurant—it’s a bridge between generations, a tribute to our parents and grandparents, and an invitation to experience Taiwan through the warmth of food and memory.”
They added, “Our military village-style set meal isn’t just about taste—it’s about storytelling, emotion, and authenticity. This record will help us share that story with even more people across ASEAN.”
