As of August 2026, 123 Live Mall had developed and designed 636 stock keeping units (SKUs) across 18 product categories, including a specialised portfolio of 533 Feng Shui and energy products across 15 categories.

First and Longest Pulut Semangat Heritage Trail Assembled Entirely by Women Culinary Practitioners with Hand-Carved Vegetable Floral (640.87 m × 6 cm × 2 cm; 121 makers across 3 ethnic groups; 1,200 kg raw glutinous rice; assembled in 2 hours, 9am to 11am, 31 August 2026)

The recognition celebrates a large-scale culinary and cultural achievement created entirely by women culinary practitioners, bringing together 121 women across three ethnic groups to assemble a 640.87-metre Pulut Semangat heritage trail on 31 August 2026.

Using 1,200 kg of raw glutinous rice, the participants completed the heritage trail within two hours, from 9.00am to 11.00am, with the finished presentation measuring 6 cm wide and 2 cm high and incorporating hand-carved vegetable floral elements.

Held in conjunction with Malaysia’s National Day celebrations in Seri Kembangan, Selangor, the initiative carried a wider message of unity, women’s participation and cultural heritage, bringing together culinary practitioners, volunteers and members of the community through a shared Malaysian food tradition.

Bringing 121 Women Together Through Food and Heritage

At the heart of the achievement was the collective participation of 121 women culinary practitioners representing three ethnic groups.

Rather than focusing solely on the final length of the Pulut Semangat trail, the initiative demonstrated what could be achieved when women from different backgrounds came together through a shared culinary and cultural purpose.

The preparation required coordination across participants, ingredient management, food preparation, assembly and presentation, culminating in a continuous 640.87-metre heritage trail.

The inclusion of hand-carved vegetable floral elements added another expression of culinary craftsmanship, combining traditional food preparation with creative presentation and practical skill.

The achievement reflects not only scale, but also the cooperation, patience and organisation required for more than a hundred participants to complete a single presentation within a defined period.

1,200 kg of Glutinous Rice Across 640.87 Metres

The scale of the ASEAN Records achievement was supported by the use of 1,200 kg of raw glutinous rice.

Once prepared and assembled, the Pulut Semangat presentation extended for 640.87 metres, measuring 6 cm in width and 2 cm in height.

The assembly was completed between 9.00am and 11.00am on 31 August 2026, forming the measurable basis of the recognition.

The scale required participants to work within an organised system so that preparation and assembly could be carried out consistently along the designated route.

Each participant contributed to the final result, transforming individual culinary efforts into one continuous heritage presentation.

Celebrating Merdeka Through Culinary Heritage

The achievement formed part of the Semarak Merdeka dengan Pulut Semangat Terpanjang initiative in Seri Kembangan, Selangor, connecting Malaysia’s National Day celebrations with culinary heritage, community participation and the contribution of women.

For the Malaysia Women Chef Association, the initiative was designed to go beyond creating a record. It provided a platform to bring women together, celebrate their culinary skills and highlight how food can connect communities across different backgrounds.

Participants travelled from different parts of Malaysia, including Johor, Perlis, Kelantan, Terengganu, Perak and Sabah, to take part in the initiative.

Their participation reflected a shared commitment to the project and its aim of creating greater visibility and meaningful opportunities for women working in the culinary field.

The National Day setting added further significance, positioning the achievement as a celebration of Malaysian identity, cooperation and the role of women in preserving and developing the country’s culinary heritage.

From an Idea for Seri Kembangan to a Collective Women’s Initiative

The concept behind the project grew from several connected aspirations.

Chef Renukadevi Ramachandran, President of the Malaysia Women Chef Association, is a graduate of the Wanita Berdaya Selangor Women’s Leadership Programme and became a mentee of YB Wong Siew Ki in 2024.

Through that experience, she became aware of an aspiration to strengthen Seri Kembangan as a destination with greater public and tourism appeal.

At the same time, Chef Renukadevi wanted to bring together women working across different areas of the culinary profession and create a meaningful platform where their skills and contributions could receive greater visibility.

Chef Fazalina Ismail, Vice President of the Malaysia Women Chef Association, brought another idea closely connected with Malaysian culture: the tradition of a communal gathering centred around food and bringing people together.

These ideas eventually developed into the Pulut Semangat initiative, combining women’s participation, community, culinary heritage and National Day within one large-scale project.

Creating More Opportunities for Women in the Culinary Field

A central purpose behind the initiative was to create greater visibility and opportunities for women involved in culinary work.

For the association, participation represented more than preparing and assembling food for a single event. It provided women with an opportunity to demonstrate their skills collectively, build connections and contribute to a wider cultural initiative.

The project also reflects the association’s intention to create similar opportunities in other states, providing more women culinary practitioners with platforms to participate, collaborate and showcase their capabilities.

By bringing together women from different communities and backgrounds, the initiative demonstrated how culinary heritage can become a platform for both cultural preservation and women’s professional development.

A Community Celebration in Seri Kembangan

The programme was held at Gelanggang Zhong Yuan Bola Keranjang, Jalan Indah, Taman Universiti, Seri Kembangan, Selangor, on 31 August 2026.

The programme began with participant arrival and preparation activities before the assembly of the Pulut Semangat heritage trail.

The day continued with the arrival of invited guests, official addresses, measurement and verification of the achievement, the announcement of the recognition, media activities and the formal certificate presentation.

The event brought together members of the Seri Kembangan community, volunteers, culinary practitioners, supporting partners and invited guests in conjunction with Malaysia’s National Day celebrations.

Beyond the measurable record, the occasion reflected a wider spirit of cooperation, with participants and supporters contributing their time and effort towards a shared community and cultural initiative.

The ASEAN Records certificate was officially presented on 31 August 2026 at Gelanggang Zhong Yuan Bola Keranjang, Jalan Indah, Taman Universiti, Seri Kembangan, Selangor.

The recognition was received by Chef Renukadevi Ramachandran, President of the Malaysia Women Chef Association, together with Chef Fazalina Ismail, Vice President of the Malaysia Women Chef Association.

The presentation was witnessed by YB Wong Siew Ki, State Assemblywoman for Seri Kembangan.

On 30 August 2026, HONOR’s self-developed humanoid robot, the HONOR Robotics D1, made its first public appearance outside China at the Malaysia Marathon 2026. Setting off from Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, the robot completed a 10-kilometre open-road course on its own two legs, testing its stability, battery endurance, and sustained mobility under real-world outdoor conditions.

Less than a day later, on 31 August 2026, the HONOR Robotics D1 joined Malaysia’s National Day Parade in Putrajaya, marching on its own legs before a large public audience.

The recognition acknowledges the Johor International Book Bazaar 2026 as a government-initiated international literary and cultural platform organised by a state statutory library corporation, combining books, public learning, heritage presentation and cultural identity within a single event.

Held from 21 to 25 August 2026 at Paradigm Mall Johor Bahru, the five-day bazaar featured 85 exhibitor units, including 42 main pavilions incorporating traditional Malay timber-carved design elements, together with 150 personnel comprising 50 secretariat members and 100 exhibitor personnel.

These pavilions were designed to reflect Johor’s traditional culture, craftsmanship and architectural character while serving as functional exhibition spaces for participating organisations and exhibitors.

The format created an environment in which the presentation of books and information was closely connected with local cultural identity.

The event layout also included dedicated areas for international exhibitors, programme activities, heritage elements, photography, radio, supporting booths and visitor engagement.

150 Personnel in Three Distinct Heritage Attire

The cultural identity of the bazaar extended beyond the physical pavilion design.

A total of 150 personnel participated in the event, comprising 50 secretariat personnel and 100 exhibitor personnel.

Across the event, personnel were represented in three distinct forms of heritage attire, reinforcing the cultural character of the bazaar and creating greater public visibility for traditional dress.

This element complemented the traditional timber-carved pavilion concept and supported the wider objective of presenting Johor’s heritage through both the built environment and human participation.

The combination of traditional design, heritage attire and literary activities distinguished the bazaar as a platform where cultural expression and knowledge-sharing were presented side by side.

A Government-Initiated Literary and Cultural Platform

The Johor International Book Bazaar 2026 was organised by PPAJ following a decision by the Johor State Government dated 18 March 2026.

As a state statutory body responsible for public library services throughout Johor, PPAJ plays an important role in providing access to books, information, learning facilities, digital technology and literacy programmes for communities in both urban and rural areas.

The international book bazaar reflects this wider public-service role by extending access to reading and learning beyond conventional library spaces and into a large public setting.

Through the event, visitors were able to engage with books, exhibitors, cultural activities and educational programmes in an accessible environment designed for families, students, readers and the wider community.

The ASEAN Records certificate was officially presented on 22 August 2026 at Paradigm Mall Johor Bahru during the Johor International Book Bazaar 2026.

The recognition was received by YM Puan Ungku Noorakmal binti Ungku Sulaiman, Director of the Johor Public Library Corporation (PPAJ), together with her team.

The recognition was officially presented by Tan Sri Datuk Danny Ooi, Chairman of the Advisory Board of ASEAN Records.

The presentation was witnessed by several distinguished guests, including Yang Berhormat Dr. Mohammed Naqib bin Md. Ghazali, Chairman of the Johor State Education and Information Committee and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Johor Public Library Corporation; YBhg. Revealing Biodiversity Across Three Domains of Life

The achievement was recorded through Banding Trail Adventure 2026 (BTA2026), a biodiversity-focused programme designed to systematically explore, identify, document, and verify the diversity of life within Pulau Banding and the wider Belum-Temengor landscape.

Across a 4.78-kilometre trail corridor comprising six sampling points, the expedition successfully documented 1,470 species across all three biological domains of life — 545 Bacteria, 2 Archaea, and 923 Eukarya. Based on the IUCN Red List, among the biodiversity recorded were 1 Critically Endangered, 12 Endangered, 32 Vulnerable, and 21 Near Threatened species, underscoring the ecological significance of the landscape and the importance of continued scientific research and conservation.

Combining Scientific Expertise, Technology and Collaborative Research

BTA2026 brought together 70 academics, experts, and volunteers from diverse backgrounds for a structured 67-hour expedition, combining systematic observation, field sampling, species identification, documentation, and verification.

The programme brought together expertise from government agencies, higher education institutions, non-governmental organisations, conservation bodies, the corporate sector, and volunteers, making BTA2026 not only an expedition but also a platform for collaborative and citizen science.

Participating organisations included Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK), UMK Tropical Rainforest Research Centre (UMK-TRaCe), Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM), Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Universiti Malaya (UM), Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT), Tropical Rainforest Conservation & Research Centre (TRCRC), and Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), among others.

Modern technologies such as remote sensing, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR), and Artificial Intelligence (AI) also complement traditional field expertise, strengthening biodiversity monitoring and supporting more science-based analysis and decision-making.

Through this combination of smart sampling, multidisciplinary expertise, multiple research methods, and standardised data collection, BTA2026 demonstrates how collaborative science can create a more comprehensive understanding of life within a rainforest ecosystem.

Strengthening Malaysia’s Biodiversity Knowledge and Conservation Future

Beyond achieving a record, the biodiversity documented through BTA2026 contributes to Malaysia’s broader environmental and conservation priorities.

The programme aligns with the aspirations of the National Policy on Biological Diversity 2022–2030, which emphasises biodiversity conservation, sustainable resource use, equitable benefit-sharing, and the strengthening of research and knowledge development.

The scientific data generated through programmes such as BTA2026 also contributes towards strengthening the Malaysia Biodiversity Information System (MyBIS), the country’s Clearing-House Mechanism under the Convention on Biological Diversity.

Through the programme, Pulau Banding is positioned not simply as an eco-tourism destination, but as a living laboratory for biodiversity research, conservation, education, and environmental awareness.

Working together in a coordinated federation-sanctioned attempt, the participants collectively broke 16,888 Taekwon-Do boards in 9 minutes and 32 seconds, reflecting discipline, preparation, timing and teamwork across a diverse group of young martial arts practitioners.

Bringing 168 Students Across 39 Institutions Together

A defining feature of the achievement was the participation of students from different stages of education, bringing together young practitioners from early childhood through tertiary education.

The 168 participants comprised one pre-school student, 86 primary school students, 73 secondary school students, three college students and five university students, representing a total of 39 institutions.

Rather than focusing solely on individual performance, the record required the entire group to work towards one shared objective.

This collective format placed emphasis on coordination and teamwork, with participants, coaches and organisers working together to ensure the attempt could be completed within a structured and organised setting.

The achievement demonstrates how Taekwon-Do can bring together students from different age groups and educational backgrounds through a common discipline while encouraging focus, confidence, physical coordination and cooperation.

At the centre of the ASEAN Records recognition was the successful breaking of 16,888 Taekwon-Do boards within 9 minutes and 32 seconds.

The record activity was conducted between 08:20:00 to 08:29:32 on 8 August 2026 at SJKC Keng Koon, Penang.

The result represents both speed and scale, with the final completion time forming the measurable basis of the recognition.

Beyond the number of boards broken, the attempt required careful planning to coordinate 168 students from 39 institutions, involving participants with different levels of experience and from different age groups.

Each student contributed to the final result, making the achievement a collective effort rather than an individual challenge.

Marking 10 Years of Penang TTA

The record attempt was organised as part of a milestone year for Penang TTA, which marked its 10th anniversary in 2026.

The event programme began with participant registration and the record attempt before continuing with the arrival of invited guests, a Taekwon-Do performance, official addresses, the recognition certificate presentation and subsequent championship activities.

The programme included an address by Dato’ Paduka Muhammad Shahnaz Bin Azmi, President of the Malaysian ITF Taekwon-Do Federation (MITF).

The event was officiated by En Shamsul Qamar Bin Shamsuddin, Youth and Sports Officer for Seberang Perai Selatan District.

The championship provided students with an opportunity to participate not only in the ASEAN Records attempt but also in a wider structured martial arts programme involving competition and community participation.

Transforming Temporary Event Power Through Battery Technology

During Outdoor Expo Malaysia 2026, held from 7 to 9 August at Titiwangsa Stadium, GoRental deployed a large-scale network of portable Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) to support open-air exhibition booths and event activities throughout 36 operating hours.

The systems collectively delivered 992.16 kWh of electricity, supporting a diverse programme that included outdoor adventure showcases, climbing demonstrations, survival workshops, product launches, educational sessions, family attractions, and live stage activities.

By replacing conventional generator-dependent temporary power with portable battery systems, the deployment demonstrated that major outdoor events can operate reliably while providing a quieter and more comfortable environment for exhibitors, visitors, workers, and surrounding communities.

Reducing Diesel Reliance and Environmental Impact

Beyond operational reliability, the deployment delivered measurable environmental benefits.

Against a conventional diesel-generator baseline, the project avoided approximately 803 kg of CO₂e emissions, while also reducing the exhaust, noise, and fuel consumption normally associated with temporary generator infrastructure.

Through this approach, GoRental aims to encourage event organisers and stakeholders to consider battery-powered temporary energy as a practical alternative for events, campsites, construction environments, commercial operations, and other high-demand applications.

Tun Dr Mahathir celebrated his 101st birthday on 10 July 2026, followed by Tun Dr Siti Hasmah’s 100th birthday on 12 July 2026. The couple subsequently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on 5 August 2026, having been married since 1956.

Tun Dr Mahathir served as Malaysia’s Prime Minister across two non-consecutive terms, from 1981 to 2003 and again from 2018 to 2020, amounting to 24 years in office.

Throughout those years, Tun Dr Siti Hasmah accompanied him as the nation’s first lady while establishing her own distinguished legacy through her contributions to medicine, public health, education, and social causes.

A Milestone Moment of Acknowledgement

The ASEAN Records certificates were officially presented on 11 August 2026 at the Perdana Leadership Foundation, Putrajaya, following the completion of the adjudication and regional verification process.

The certificates were conferred upon Tun Dr Mahathir bin Mohamad and Tun Dr Siti Hasmah binti Mohd Ali, commemorating their respective centenarian milestones and extraordinary chapters of public and personal life.

Building More Than Two Decades of Experience in Cell and Gene Technologies

Established in 2002, CryoCord Group is headquartered at the Bio-X Centre in Cyberjaya, Malaysia. Over more than two decades, the group has expanded from cord blood banking into areas spanning mesenchymal stem cells, induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), natural killer (NK) cells, CAR T-cell technologies, regenerative medicine research, and advanced cell processing.

Held from 6 to 8 August 2026 under the theme “Translating Research to Real World Therapy,” the congress brought together clinicians, scientists, researchers, industry partners, and policymakers to discuss developments in cell and gene therapy, including translational research, clinical applications, regulatory considerations, ethics, safety, and emerging technologies.

The recognition was received by James Then Khong Lek, Managing Director of CryoCord Group, together with Don Calaki, Head of AI and Digital Systems at CryoCord Group.

The presentation was witnessed by Guest of Honour Tan Sri Dato’ Dr Abu Bakar Suleiman, Chancellor of International Medical University and Clinical Advisor to the Minister of Health of Malaysia.
