In a milestone that highlights innovation and experiential engagement in the automotive industry, the Malaysia Automotive Robotics and IoT Institute (MARii), in collaboration with Moonman Event, has officially been recognized by ASEAN Records for organizing: ASEAN’s Largest Outdoor Obstacle Test Drive Zone at an Autoshow Achievement: 5.1 Kilometers of Purpose-Built Obstacle Trail

The prestigious certificate presentation was held on-site during the Malaysia Autoshow 2025, with the record formally presented to Mr. Azrul Reza Aziz, CEO of MARii, and witnessed by YB Senator Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz, alongside key industry leaders, innovators, and dignitaries from across the ASEAN region.

ASEN Unity Drive Secures ASEAN Record for First and Longest Multi-Nation EV Convoy — A 10,432KM Drive of Innovation, Sustainability, and Regional Unity

The Malaysia Automotive, Robotics and IoT Institute (MARii) proudly marked a monumental milestone in regional green mobility with the completion of the ASEAN UNITY DRIVE—a record-setting convoy spanning 10,432 kilometers across 72 cities in 9 ASEAN countries over 22 days. This landmark initiative has been officially recognized by ASEAN Records as: “ASEAN’s First and Longest Multi-Nation EV Convoy Led by a Nationally-Produced EV”

The achievement was officiated at the Malaysia Auto Show 2025, in the presence of YB Senator Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, Malaysia’s Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry, who witnessed the official record certificate presentation.

The ASEAN Records certificate was officially presented to Mr. Azrul Reza Aziz, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of MARii, and witnessed by YB Senator Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, marking a significant moment for Malaysia’s leadership in automotive innovation.

“This record is not just about the distance covered,” said Mr. Azrul. “It’s about breaking through boundaries, fostering partnerships, and driving forward a greener future for ASEAN.”

A Trailblazing Regional Drive

Traversing Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, the Philippines, Brunei, Indonesia, Singapore, and Malaysia, the convoy was led by Proton’s eMas EV, highlighting Malaysia’s position at the forefront of sustainable and autonomous vehicle development.

This groundbreaking expedition demonstrates the technological strength, resilience, and collaboration potential across ASEAN member nations—promoting not only the capabilities of homegrown EV technology but also reinforcing regional cooperation in the clean energy transition.

The success of this ambitious journey would not have been possible without the dedicated convoy team, who braved unpredictable terrains and long-haul drives.
