ASEAN Records is proud to officially recognise CWP Food Manufacturing Sdn Bhd (SNACKISS) for achieving:
First Halal-Certified Sweet Potato Snack Fusing Two DifferentlyColoured Real Sweet Potato Varieties into One Single Chip (real purple and orange sweet potato; naturally two-toned with no artificial colouring; MS 1500 Halal-certified since 2021)
The recognition celebrates SNACKISS Double Triple Sweet Potato, which combines real purple and orange sweet potato in a single chip, creating its distinctive two-toned appearance naturally without artificial colouring.
Halal-certified under MS 1500 since 2021, the product reflects CWP Food Manufacturing’s approach of bringing together traditional Malaysian snack-making, product development and changing consumer preferences.

Two Colours, One Chip

The recognised snack combines two differently coloured sweet potato varieties in a single piece, with each contributing a different taste and texture to the overall experience.
The purple sweet potato provides a sweeter profile, while the orange sweet potato contributes a more savoury character, creating two complementary flavours within one chip.

The idea was inspired by Yanice Cheong Ming Yan’s childhood memories of enjoying sweet potato tong sui, which eventually led to the concept of combining the two varieties in a new snack format.
For CWP, the product demonstrates how familiar ingredients can be presented differently while retaining their connection to Malaysian food traditions.
Tradition Meets Product Innovation

CWP Food Manufacturing’s roots in snack-making date back to 2008, when the business began from a passion for food and traditional snack-making before developing into a wider Malaysian snack manufacturing operation.
Today, the company continues to develop traditional and plant-based snack concepts while adapting its products for different consumer preferences and overseas markets.
For Yanice, innovation does not mean leaving traditional products behind. Instead, it means finding a balance between familiar flavours, evolving consumer expectations and new product ideas.
The company also sees international expansion as an important part of its growth, with the wider aim of bringing more Malaysian-developed snacks to consumers beyond the local market.
A Milestone Moment of Recognition

The ASEAN Records recognition was officially presented on 24 September 2026 at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC), Kuala Lumpur, during MIHAS 2026, The 22nd Malaysia International Halal Showcase.
The recognition was received by Yanice Cheong Ming Yan, General Manager of CWP Food Manufacturing Sdn Bhd.
The presentation marked an important milestone for the company and its SNACKISS brand, recognising a product that combines real purple and orange sweet potato, natural two-toned presentation and halal compliance within a single snack.

Voices of Leadership
Reflecting on the recognition, Yanice Cheong Ming Yan, General Manager of CWP Food Manufacturing Sdn Bhd, shared:

“This recognition means a great deal to our team. We have a young team that has invested a lot of time and effort into developing our products, so being officially recognised is a meaningful acknowledgement of what we have built together.
“As we expand into different countries, we have learned that consumer tastes are not the same everywhere. We continue to research, adapt and improve our products for different markets, while keeping the identity of Malaysian snacks at the heart of what we do.
“For us, innovation is about finding the right balance between tradition, taste and changing consumer preferences. We want to take familiar Malaysian snacks and develop them into products that can appeal to younger and international consumers, including through plant-based and more health-conscious concepts.
“Looking ahead, we hope to enter more markets and continue developing new flavours and products. As a company based in Ipoh, we also want to internationalise our business so that we can create more opportunities and encourage local talent to build their careers here.”
Her remarks reflect CWP Food Manufacturing’s focus on continuous product development, market adaptation and international expansion, while retaining a strong connection to Malaysian snack traditions.
