ASEAN Records is proud to officially recognise Yayasan JCorp in collaboration with the World Chefs Championship 2026, led by Prof. Master Chef Michael Ooi Beng Hock, for achieving the milestone:
Longest Line of Laksa Johor (108 metres; 1,200 bowls; 30 chefs)
This recognition celebrates a major milestone in promoting Johor’s culinary heritage on the international stage while highlighting the power of gastronomy, tourism, and cultural collaboration in preserving traditional Malaysian cuisine.

Showcasing Johor’s Culinary Heritage to the World

The historic achievement took place on 21 May 2026 during the World Chefs Championship 2026 held at Persada Johor.
The record was achieved through the preparation of a 108-metre continuous line of Laksa Johor, involving 1,200 bowls prepared by 30 chefs, including 11 professional chefs from the World Chefs Championship alongside 19 Johor gastronomy entrepreneurs under Yayasan JCorp’s Projek WARO (Warisan Asli, Rasa Original) initiative.
More than just a traditional dish, Laksa Johor represents the rich heritage, identity, and cultural pride of Johor passed down through generations.

Elevating Johor’s Gastronomy on an International Platform

The initiative formed part of broader efforts to position Johor as a key destination for gastronomy and cultural tourism in conjunction with Visit Johor 2026.
The World Chefs Championship 2026 attracted participation and visitors from 42 countries, involving more than 2,389 participants and visitors, providing an international platform to showcase Johor’s local flavours and culinary traditions.
The presence of internationally renowned culinary figure Chef Martin Yan, host of the globally recognised “Yan Can Cook”, further elevated the event’s international profile and strengthened Johor’s visibility within the global culinary community.

Empowering Local Gastronomy Communities

Through Projek WARO (Warisan Asli, Rasa Original), Yayasan JCorp continues to support and empower Johor’s local gastronomy entrepreneurs and businesses.
The initiative provided opportunities for local brands and food operators, including Kacang Pool Haji and Santapan Village, to participate in the event through sales booths and promotional activities.
Beyond the event itself, Projek WARO also serves as a platform to connect entrepreneurs, industry players, tourism agencies, and communities in building a stronger and more sustainable gastronomy ecosystem within Johor.

A Collaborative Celebration of Heritage and Tourism

The initiative was organised through collaboration between Yayasan JCorp, Tourism Johor, and the Malaysian Culinary Masters Association (MCMA), reflecting the importance of cross-sector partnerships in promoting Malaysia’s cultural heritage.
The launch ceremony was officiated by Encik Mohammad Nazrul bin Abd Rahim, Director of Tourism Johor, together with the presence of Prof. Master Chef Michael Ooi Beng Hock, President of the Malaysian Culinary Masters Association (MCMA); Yang Berhormat Dato’ Mizan bin Yahya, Chief Executive Officer of Yayasan JCorp; Puan Nur Hafifah binti Dato’ Mohd Halim, Deputy Director of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture Johor; and Puan Nor Hayati binti Abdullah, Senior Tourism Officer of Tourism Malaysia Southern Region.
