ASEAN Records is proud to officially recognise Pertubuhan Hui Yin Seh Pulau Pinang for achieving the milestone:
Most Blood Donation Campaigns Conducted Monthly Without Interruption by a Single Non-Governmental Organisation Group Over 30 Consecutive Years (395 sessions from May 1996 to June 2026; 88,405 packs collected)
This remarkable achievement reflects more than three decades of unwavering commitment to public health, community service, and lifesaving blood donation advocacy in Malaysia.

Three Decades of Consistent Community Service

Founded with the vision of creating a caring and compassionate society, Pertubuhan Hui Yin Seh Pulau Pinang established its Metta Blood Donation Group on 19 May 1996, with its inaugural blood donation campaign successfully collecting 109 units of blood. Since then, the organisation has continued to conduct blood donation campaigns on a monthly basis without interruption, encouraging public participation and promoting awareness of the importance of blood donation.
At a time when blood donation campaigns were relatively uncommon and public understanding of blood donation remained limited, Hui Yin Seh took the initiative to educate communities and build a sustainable culture of voluntary blood donation throughout Penang.
A Lifesaving Impact Across Generations

Over the course of 30 consecutive years, the organisation successfully conducted 395 blood donation campaigns, resulting in the collection of 88,405 packs of blood, providing critical support to hospitals and healthcare institutions serving patients across the region.
The organisation has worked closely with multiple healthcare institutions, including Hospital Pulau Pinang, Island Hospital, and Hospital Lam Wah Ee, ensuring a continuous supply of donated blood to meet healthcare needs.
Throughout its journey, Hui Yin Seh continued organising campaigns during challenging periods, including public health emergencies and movement restrictions, demonstrating resilience and dedication to ensuring blood supplies remained available for those in need.
Promoting a Culture of Voluntary Blood Donation
Beyond the impressive number of campaigns conducted, Hui Yin Seh has played an important role in cultivating a culture of regular blood donation within the community.
Through consistent outreach efforts, public education initiatives, and partnerships with healthcare institutions, the organisation has helped encourage thousands of individuals to become repeat blood donors. Its campaigns have not only contributed to maintaining blood supplies but have also strengthened public awareness of the vital role that blood donation plays in saving lives.
Over the years, the organisation has reached numerous milestones, including surpassing major blood collection benchmarks of 10,000, 20,000, 40,000, 60,000, and eventually more than 80,000 collected blood units, reflecting the sustained support of donors and volunteers throughout the decades.

The Founding Vision
When establishing the Metta Blood Donation Group on 19 May 1996, Hui Yin Seh founder Zhuang Geng Kang shared:
“Life is priceless.
If today you have the opportunity to help save a life in critical condition and restore hope to that person, it will not only be a deeply meaningful act of kindness, but also one of the most rewarding and fulfilling things you can do in your lifetime.
The establishment of the Metta Blood Donation Group was intended to bring together compassionate individuals who are willing to donate blood and take practical, immediate action by providing blood regularly to hospital blood banks for lifesaving purposes.
We sincerely thank you for joining the Metta Blood Donation Group. Because of your participation, together we are able to bring hope to yet another life in need.”
This vision has continued to guide the organisation’s blood donation efforts for three decades, inspiring thousands of donors and volunteers to contribute towards saving lives and supporting healthcare services within the community.
