ASEAN Records Hosts the 9th Gather of Achievers in Penang, Celebrating Regional Excellence Across Tourism, Food, and Corporate Innovation

ASEAN Records is proud to present the 9th ASEAN Records Gather of Achievers, held on 27 April 2026 at The Top, Komtar Penang, marking the platform’s first-ever Gather of Achievers in Penang since its founding in November 2024.

The event brought together record holders, industry leaders, government representatives, and partners from across the region, including YB Wong Hon Wai, Penang State Executive Councillor for Tourism and Creative Economy, together with distinguished guests YB Teh Lai Heng (ADUN Komtar), YB Wong Yuee Harng (ADUN Pengkalan Kota), and YB Joseph Ng (ADUN Air Itam)—reinforcing ASEAN Records’ commitment to recognising measurable achievements while building a connected community of achievers.

A Growing Platform for Regional Recognition

Since its establishment, ASEAN Records has evolved into a structured regional certification platform, hosting 9 Gather of Achievers events within 17 months.

From themed celebrations to large-scale public activations, each gathering is designed not only to recognise achievements but also to foster collaboration, connection, and shared inspiration among record holders.

A key milestone in this journey was the official launch of ASIA Records on 22 October 2025, expanding the platform’s reach beyond Southeast Asia. Today, both ASEAN Records and ASIA Records continue to grow their presence across the region, collectively reaching millions through digital platforms.

Expanding Tourism and Food Records to Penang

A key highlight of the 9th Gather of Achievers was the continued rollout of the ASEAN Tourism Records and ASIA Tourism Records initiative, supporting Malaysia’s Visit Malaysia Year 2026.

Through a structured framework, the initiative documents, verifies, and promotes tourism and food destinations based on measurable and verifiable criteria, strengthening their visibility at both regional and international levels.

At this edition, two of Penang’s most iconic landmarks were officially recognised:

Fort Cornwallis — Oldest Intact Star Bastion Fort Built by the British East India Company on the Malay Peninsula (Construction commenced 1786; approximately 38,800 sq. m footprint)

Penang Hill Biosphere Reserve — Oldest Colonial Hill Station within a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve (Discovered in 1788; UNESCO MAB Programme designation received 2021; 233 years between establishment and designation), receiving dual certification under ASEAN Records and ASIA Records

These recognitions highlight Penang’s historical and cultural significance while reinforcing its role as a key tourism destination within Malaysia.

Celebrating Visit Malaysia 2026

The event also marked the first appearance of 50 Wira and Manja mascots in Penang, in conjunction with Visit Malaysia 2026.

This milestone reflects the ongoing nationwide effort to promote Malaysia’s tourism industry, bringing cultural identity and destination awareness closer to the public through large-scale engagement initiatives.

Recognising Outstanding Achievements Across Industries

In addition to tourism and food certifications, the 9th Gather of Achievers also recognised a diverse range of achievements across multiple industries, including culinary arts, manufacturing, technology, healthcare, digital marketing, and food production.

Among the record holders recognised were:

Prof. Master Chef Michael Ooi Beng Hock — First Chef to Be Awarded a Royal Certificate of Appreciation by a Head of State for Designing and Preparing the Official Royal Birthday Cake

Creative Bliss — First Precision Metal Manufacturing Group to Expand from Single-Plant to Six Operational Plants within Three Years with End-to-End Engineering Capability and a Proprietary Digital Quality System (Q2DB)

Each achievement was independently verified based on measurable criteria, reinforcing ASEAN Records’ position as a credible certification platform.

Building a Community of Achievers

The Gather of Achievers platform goes beyond recognition, serving as a space where record holders can connect, exchange ideas, and explore future collaborations.

With each edition, ASEAN Records continues to strengthen a growing ecosystem of achievers across industries and countries, promoting a culture of excellence grounded in verified achievement.
