First and Longest Three-Quay River Festival Powered by Portable Battery Energy Storage Systems Across Ten Consecutive Days

Achieved through the Singapore River Festival 2026 (SRF 2026), the recognition highlights a large-scale approach to cleaner temporary event power spanning Boat Quay, Clarke Quay and Robertson Quay across ten consecutive days, with zero litres of diesel consumed throughout the festival period.
Powering a Ten-Day Festival Across Three Quays
Organised by Singapore River One, Singapore River Festival brought the Singapore River precinct to life from 11 to 20 September 2026, connecting three distinctive festival zones across its three quays, marking its 10th Edition with this year’s theme – The Quay Collective.
The milestone edition invites visitors to discover the Singapore River in new and unexpected ways across three distinct zones: the Entertainment Zone @ Boat Quay, Expression Zone @ Clarke Quay, and Lifestyle & Wellness Zone @ Robertson Quay, each offering its own energy and curated experiences.
Behind this extensive festival programme was a temporary energy infrastructure designed to support operations while reducing reliance on conventional diesel generators.
Advancing Cleaner Temporary Power for Large-Scale Events
As part of SRF 2026’s sustainability efforts, portable battery energy storage systems were deployed to support festival operations, with zero litres of diesel consumed across the ten-day festival period.
The deployment formed part of Singapore River Festival’s continued collaboration with GoRental, marking the third consecutive edition in which cleaner temporary power solutions were incorporated into the festival.
For SRF 2026, solar-charged mobile battery systems were deployed with a targeted supply of approximately 1,600 kWh of clean energy, equivalent to powering approximately 174 typical three-room HDB flats for a day, while targeting the avoidance of an estimated 1.30 tonnes of CO₂e emissions.
By replacing conventional generator dependence with portable battery systems, the initiative also helps reduce the noise and emissions typically associated with temporary event power.
Combining Heritage, Innovation and Sustainability Along the Singapore River
The record reflects SRO’s continued efforts to integrate more sustainable solutions into its large-scale precinct activations.
Beyond this achievement, SRF 2026 reflects SRO’s role in bringing people, places and stories together across the River. From captivating performances and immersive light experiences to opportunities to unwind by the waterfront, this year’s festival invites visitors to explore the River in their own way while discovering the distinct personalities of its three quays.
By powering a ten-day programme across Boat Quay, Clarke Quay and Robertson Quay through portable battery energy storage systems, the festival demonstrates how heritage, creativity, technology, and cleaner event infrastructure can operate together within one river precinct.
The achievement establishes a new ASEAN benchmark for long-duration, multi-location river festivals adopting cleaner temporary energy solutions.
A Milestone Moment of Recognition
The ASEAN Records certificate was officially presented on 11 September 2026 at CQ @ Clarke Quay Fountain Square, marking the opening of the 10th edition of Singapore River Festival.
The recognition was received by Michelle Koh, Executive Director of Singapore River One, and witnessed by Guest-of-Honour Mr Foo Cexiang, Minister of State, Ministry of Manpower & Ministry of Trade and Industry.
