Himalaya Receives Prestigious ASEAN Records for the Largest Twin Lion Dance

Himalaya Sports Management (Malaysia) proudly announces its historic recognition by ASEAN Records for creating the ASEAN’s Largest Twin Lion Dance Prop, measuring an impressive 1.8m width × 4.0m height × 10m length.

This extraordinary achievement was celebrated in Melaka, where the magnificent twin lions, adorned in distinct colors, showcased Malaysia’s national flag colors on one, symbolizing unity and national pride.

A Meaningful Collaboration with Youth and Education

The event carried profound meaning as it brought together the vibrant youth of Sekolah Tinggi Cina Melaka, with 81 students aged 13 to 16 years participating as lion dancers. The performance uniquely featured a male student at the front and a female student at the back, symbolizing gender harmony and collaboration.

Additionally, seven dedicated teachers worked tirelessly for months to train and guide the students, ensuring a flawless and awe-inspiring performance. Each lion involved approximately 40 performers, making the display not just a visual masterpiece but also a demonstration of teamwork and dedication.

A Testament to Cultural Heritage and Innovation

The twin lion dance props represent more than size; they stand as a testament to Malaysia’s rich cultural heritage and Himalaya’s commitment to preserving traditional arts while pushing the boundaries of innovation. The lions, crafted with intricate detail and vibrant colors, captured the hearts of the audience and symbolized strength, prosperity, and unity.

“Receiving this ASEAN Records recognition is truly an honor for us. It reflects our dedication to celebrating cultural traditions while fostering youth engagement and teamwork,” said a Datuk Kenny Low from Himalaya Sports Management.

A Celebration of Talent and Tradition

This record-breaking achievement not only highlights the artistic and technical expertise of those involved but also serves as an inspiration for future generations to embrace and innovate upon traditional practices. The involvement of young students and educators underscores the role of education in preserving and elevating cultural heritage.
