ASEAN Records proudly recognises Chin ChianYao (CCY), renowned Malaysian social media influencer, for achieving the remarkable title: “Most Multiracial Participation in a Rangoli Artwork Symbolising Cultural Unity, Led by a Social Media Influencer.”
The official ASEAN Records certificate presentation took place on 11th October 2025 at 3:00 PM at MyTown Shopping Centre, Kuala Lumpur. This record celebrates a profound act of collaboration, creativity, and harmony — reflecting Malaysia’s vibrant multicultural spirit through the timeless and symbolic art of Rangoli, traditionally associated with Deepavali, the Festival of Lights.

A Celebration of Diversity, Harmony, and Light
Coinciding with the upcoming Deepavali celebrations on 20th October 2025, this achievement beautifully embodies the festival’s essence — the triumph of light over darkness and the unity of communities through colour, joy, and shared humanity.
The record-breaking initiative brought together participants from eight ethnic groups — Malay, Chinese, Indian, Kadazan Dusun, Iban, Russian, Eurasian, and Kenyah — all joining hands to create a breathtaking Rangoli masterpiece symbolising cultural harmony and friendship across Malaysia and ASEAN.
Guided by CCY’s leadership and artistic vision, the collaborative effort reflected the spirit of inclusivity, peace, and mutual respect. The intricate patterns and vivid colours expressed prosperity and unity — echoing the luminous message of Deepavali.

A Monumental Artwork of Colour and Collaboration
The large-scale Rangoli installation used over 1,400 kilograms of coloured rice in 16 distinct shades, resulting in two awe-inspiring masterpieces:
- Artwork 1: 3.6m × 12m (43.2m²)
- Artwork 2: 6m × 8m (48m²)
- Total Area: 91.2m²
The creation began at 9:00 PM and was completed by 8:00 AM, spanning a total of 11 hours of artistic dedication and teamwork:
- Artwork 1: 10:00 PM – 2:00 AM (4 hours)
- Artwork 2: 3:45 AM – 7:00 AM (3 hours 15 minutes)
A total of 186 participants (Malay, Chinese, Indian, Kadazan Dusun, Iban, Russian, Eurasian, and Kenyah.) worked overnight to bring the artwork to life — a magnificent expression of Malaysia’s unity in diversity.

An Inspiring Milestone in ASEAN Cultural Collaboration
This recognition not only celebrates Malaysia’s multicultural heritage but also sets a meaningful benchmark for artistic and cultural collaboration across ASEAN.
- Materials Used: 1,400 kg of coloured rice, 16 colours

The achievement underscores the power of creative leadership in promoting ASEAN’s shared values of diversity, inclusivity, and community spirit.
Through CCY’s leadership, the Rangoli project stands as a landmark example of how art and cultural celebration can bridge communities and inspire harmony — one colour at a time.
