HOU GU Recognised by ASEAN Records for First and Largest UV-Fluorescent Tai Chi Fan Performance at a Charity Gala Dinner

ASEAN Records is proud to officially recognise HOU GU, through the Together in Charity Gala Dinner 2026, organised by Persatuan Kebajikan Hou Gu Negeri Sabah, for achieving:

First and Largest Tai Chi Fan Performance Using UV-Fluorescent Fans with Glow-in-the-Dark Logos at a Charity Gala Dinner
(108 participants, 108 fans)

This recognition celebrates the collective efforts of 108 volunteers who combined traditional Tai Chi fan movements with fluorescent visual elements, creating a distinctive cultural performance that brought together community participation, teamwork and charitable giving.

108 Volunteers Unite for a Record-Setting Performance

A defining highlight of the Together in Charity Gala Dinner 2026 was a coordinated Tai Chi fan performance involving 108 participants and 108 specially designed fans.

Each fan incorporated UV-fluorescent features and glow-in-the-dark logos, creating a striking visual display as participants performed synchronised movements inspired by traditional Tai Chi fan techniques.

The performance was developed through nearly six months of preparation and rehearsals, reflecting the volunteers’ commitment, discipline and cooperation.

Participants came from different age groups and professional backgrounds, with some families joining the rehearsals together. Their shared efforts transformed the performance into a meaningful expression of unity and community spirit.

Bringing Traditional Culture and Visual Innovation Together

Tai Chi fan performances combine elements of traditional Chinese martial arts, rhythmic movement and coordinated choreography.

For this record-setting presentation, the incorporation of UV-fluorescent fans with glow-in-the-dark logos introduced a contemporary visual dimension to the traditional art form.

The coordinated movements of 108 performers created a collective display that celebrated cultural heritage while highlighting the creativity and dedication of the participating volunteers.

By incorporating the performance into a charity gala dinner, HOU GU demonstrated how cultural activities can bring communities together in support of meaningful social causes.

Turning Community Participation into Charitable Impact

Held on 10 October 2026 at Kian Kok Middle School in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, the Together in Charity Gala Dinner 2026 brought together approximately 750 guests, including community representatives, supporters and volunteers.

Beyond the record-setting Tai Chi fan performance, the evening featured cultural and artistic presentations, including dance, drama, sign language performances, martial arts and traditional 24 Festive Drums.

The event reflected the association’s commitment to encouraging community involvement while raising awareness of charitable initiatives supporting individuals and families in need.

Through programmes covering food assistance, medical support, education, senior care and cultural activities, Persatuan Kebajikan Hou Gu Negeri Sabah continues to promote compassion and collective responsibility within the local community.
