ASEAN Records is proud to officially recognise Mohd Chan for achieving the milestone: First and Largest Muslim-Direct-Owned Chinese Restaurant Chain Established Since 2007

This recognition marks a significant milestone in Malaysia’s food and beverage landscape, affirming Mohd Chan’s leadership in bridging Chinese culinary heritage with halal principles through a fully direct-owned business model sustained over nearly two decades.

Building a Trusted Chinese Muslim Dining Legacy

Established in 2007, Mohd Chan is a homegrown restaurant chain founded on the belief that food is a powerful medium for connection, cultural exchange, and shared experiences. From its inception, the brand set out to make authentic Chinese cuisine accessible within a halal framework—welcoming Muslim diners while remaining inclusive to all communities.

Guided by the principles of Halalan Toyyiban, Mohd Chan places strong emphasis on food quality, safety, ethical sourcing, and operational integrity. Operating under a fully direct-owned model, the brand maintains consistent standards across all outlets, reinforcing accountability and long-term sustainability.

Today, Mohd Chan operates 28 directly owned outlets across Peninsular Malaysia, reflecting steady growth built on trust, discipline, and values-driven leadership. The ASEAN Records recognition acknowledges not only the scale of the brand, but also its role in fostering cultural understanding through Chinese Muslim cuisine.

A Landmark Moment of Recognition

The ASEAN Records certificate was officially presented on 27 January 2026 during the official opening of Mohd Chan’s Genting Permai outlet.

The certificate was proudly received by Datuk Wira Mustafa Chan, Managing Director, together with Datuk Mohammad Nik Chan, Executive Director, and Datin Wira Aishah Sim, Marketing Director, recognising their leadership in building and sustaining the brand since its establishment.

The presentation was witnessed by His Royal Highness Tengku Mahkota of Pahang, Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah, underscoring the national significance of the milestone and Mohd Chan’s contribution to Malaysia’s culinary and cultural landscape.

In conjunction with the opening, Mohd Chan also hosted Majlis Santuni Kasih Diraja, welcoming orphans and asnaf (eligible recipients), reflecting the company’s commitment to community care. The event also marked the launch of the Mohd Chan charity van initiative, symbolising the Group’s ongoing dedication to charitable outreach and social responsibility.

Voices of Leadership

Reflecting on the recognition, Datin Wira Aishah Sim, Marketing Director of Mohd Chan, shared:

“This occasion represents a moment of gratitude and giving back for Mohd Chan. As we open a new outlet, hosting a royal care charity initiative allows us to share our journey with the community that has supported us throughout our growth.

We believe that a company’s success should not be measured by performance alone, but by the positive impact it creates for society. Caring for orphans and vulnerable communities is not a one-off activity—it is a long-term commitment.

Being recognised by ASEAN Records affirms 18 years of consistency and belief since 2007. While growth can be seen, values must be safeguarded. Our adherence to Halalan Toyyiban is not merely a standard, but a reflection of integrity that builds trust across all communities.”
