In a landmark achievement for the region’s aerial arts community, Malaysian aerial artist Charmaine Lim Yee Sim has been officially certified by ASEAN Records for becoming the First Aerial Artist to Win Dual World-Level Titles in a Single Competition — earning both Overall Adult Champion and Aerial Hammock Solo Professional Champion at the 2021 South West Aerial Championship held in Britain.
The 2021 championship brought together elite aerialists from across the globe, competing across multiple disciplines in one of the world’s most respected platforms for aerial performance. Charmaine’s exceptional artistry, technical mastery, and creative choreography distinguished her performance, leading to a historic double victory — a feat never before achieved by a Southeast Asian performer.
This recognition by ASEAN Records marks a defining moment for Malaysia and the wider ASEAN performing arts scene, celebrating Charmaine Lim’s success as a milestone in regional creative excellence.

“My journey has been one of passion, persistence, and belief,” said Charmaine Lim Yee Sim.
“Winning both titles at an international competition was already a dream come true — but being recognised by ASEAN Records makes this achievement even more meaningful. I hope my story inspires more Southeast Asian artists to take flight — literally and figuratively.”
